Coach/Staff bio

Emily Lomax is a native of Mobile, Alabama. She attended McGill-Toolen playing volleyball (1995-1998) and also played basketball (1995-1997).  During her career on the Dirty Dozen she was a middle blocker. She earned several awards including the prestigious Gatorade Player of the Year for Alabama (1998)- other awards included: Mobile Press Register Volleyball Player of the Year (1997 and 1998), Who’s Who in Sports (1998), All-State Tournament Player (1997 and 1998), All Region Team (1997 and MVP 1998) and All Area Team (1997 and MVP 1998).

She was recruited by several schools in the Southeast and chose to play Division I volleyball at the University of Alabama.  She played for the Crimson Tide through 2001.   Emily graduated with a BS in Early Childhood Education and a Masters in Social Work.

After college, she returned home to Mobile. Emily is a social worker with Fresenius Kidney Care. She is married to Matt, and they have two children, Brooks and Olivia.

As her children grew in age, Emily wanted to get back involved with volleyball.  She started working for LAV in 2020 with our 11’s .  In 2022, she coached our 12 National Black team and in 2023 she coached our 16 National Black team.
