Lower Alabama Volleyball has an outstanding staff of experienced coaches who have played and coached the game at different levels and positions. All of the coaches listed below are available to contact for individual lessons.

SAMANTHA NICHOLS

Sam has 3 years of experience coaching both High School and Club Volleyball. She was an outstanding NAIA Middle Blocker earning multiple All-Conference awards and was Named Player of the Year in 2019.

LAURA JOHNSON

Laura has been coaching club for 11 years and has experience coaching all ages from 5yrs old to the collegiate level. She played at Troy University as a Middle Hitter, Outside & Defensive Specialist. After Troy she was an NCAA DII Assistant Coach at LMU for one season. She is currently in her 6th season as a High School Coach and her 4th at McGill-Toolen Catholic.

MARY COYE WARD

Mary Coye has been coaching club for 5 years and has experience coaching all ages from 3yrs old to 18yrs old. She played at Spring Hill College. After graduating from Spring Hill College- she stepped into the role of director at LAV and is now LAV's master coach from 13U and up.

MADDIE BERGERON

Maddie has been coaching club volleyball for 6 years which has also included developmental leagues, clinics, camps, and private/ group lessons. She was the assistant club director in Louisiana for CVC and her coaching experience ranges from ages 5 to 18 years old. She played volleyball as a DS/Libero at the University of Mobile for 5 seasons where she co-captained the team for the last three years.

VICTORIA YOUNG

Victoria played for McGill-Toolen High School as a middle for all 4 years. She also played club at ESVC and Storm while she was in high school. After her high school career, she went on to play volleyball for 5 years at UAB as a middle. After college, Victoria, ventured out overseas to play professional volleyball. She played in Greece, Hungary, France, and Cyprus. When she was not overseas playing, she was the assistant coach for the 16's at NASA from 2015-2017. She was the head coach at Covenant Academy for two different team: 3rd-4th grade and 5th and 6th grade teams.
In 2022, Victoria came over to LAV as the 14's Local Head Coach and the Assistant Coach for the 17's National team. We are glad to have her back in the gym teaching lessons for the 2024 season

JOCELYN MAHAYAG

Jocelyn has been coaching volleyball for 5 years which includes club volleyball, club camps, high school volleyball, private lessons and collegiate volleyball. She played volleyball at Truett-McConnell, Georgia State University and the University of Mobile where she earned multiple conference and AVCA awards. After graduation in 2019, Jocelyn went overseas to play in Italy before returning home. She is now the assistant coach at the University of West Alabama. Jocelyn was LAV's 2024 Master Coach for Sand Volleyball.

KAITLYN HOLMAN

Kaitlyn played volleyball from the age of 10-17. She started as a middle blocker and then transitioned to a 6 rotation outside hitter. In 2015, she was a state runner-up in class 7A volleyball. She came on our staff in 2024 and coached the 15 Regional Black team.

SAMANTHA TICE

Sam has been coaching volleyball for the last 2 years. She has experience coaching ages 6 to 14 years old. She was an all around outside throughout her high school, club and college career. Sam also played beach her entire athletic career as well.

GRACE CRAFT

My name is Grace Craft. I am have been coaching for 2 years now and have worked with all ages from 7-14! I was a varsity setter all four years in high school. I am currently studying Nursing at the University of South Alabama. I am passionate about the game and hope to pass that on to current athletes!
