Lower Alabama Volleyball has an outstanding staff of experienced coaches who have played and coached the game at different levels and positions. All of the coaches listed below are available to contact for individual lessons.
(Rates will vary based on years of experience and the level where they have experience coaching.)
SAMANTHA NICHOLS

Sam has 7 years of experience coaching both High School and Club Volleyball. She has high school coaching experience at Ocean Springs as the junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant coach, and at McGill-Toolen Catholic as the varsity assistant coach. Sam has coached in our Local, Regional and National gym. She was an outstanding NAIA Middle Blocker earning multiple All-Conference awards and was Named Player of the Year in 2019.

LAURA JOHNSON

Laura has been coaching club for 11 years and has experience coaching all ages from 5yrs old to the collegiate level. She played at Troy University as a Middle Hitter, Outside & Defensive Specialist. After Troy she was an NCAA DII Assistant Coach at LMU for one season. She is currently in her 6th season as a High School Coach and her 4th at McGill-Toolen Catholic.

EMILY LOMAX

Emily has been coaching club for 4 years and has experience coaching ages 11 to 16 years old. She played at The University of Alabama and is excited to start her 5th season with LAV.

JENNIE BELARMINO

Jennie played college volleyball at the University of Illinois and Ball State University .
Jennie started coaching college volleyball as an assistant at Middle Tennessee State University. She has also been an assistant coach at the University of South Alabama and then a head coach at West Virginia University Institute of Technology.
Belarmino became the head volleyball coach at Lake-Sumter State College in Leesburg, Florida for 3 seasons.
In 2018, Jennie was named Pensacola State College’s Head volleyball coach. She stayed on at Pensacola State through 2021 when she stepped away to focus on her own children’s sports in Spanish Fort.

CARLY DOUGHERTY

Carly has 16 years of coaching experience in club and high school at all age ranges. She has coached high school teams to several area championships, regional and state appearances. This is her 10th year at LAV and has had several top 5 finishes in national qualifiers, GJNC national championships and regional championships.

JAYLEN DAFFIN

Jaylen has four years of experience of coaching club, middle school, high school, and junior college volleyball. She competed as a defensive specialist at the University of West George.

MADDIE BERGERON

Maddie has been coaching club volleyball for 6 years which has also included developmental leagues, clinics, camps, and private/ group lessons. She was the assistant club director in Louisiana for CVC and her coaching experience ranges from ages 5 to 18 years old. She played volleyball as a DS/Libero at the University of Mobile for 5 seasons where she co-captained the team for the last three years.

ASHLEY SHERRIN

Ashley has been coaching for 14 years. She has coached every level of the game including youth developmental to varsity school programs as well as 12u-17u local, regional and national level club teams. She is extremely passionate about volleyball and loves to coach with positivity and constant encouragement. Through lessons, she hopes to help current athletes build confidence in certain skills and help new athletes fall in love with everything volleyball has to offer. She specializes in serve and pass, setting and defense but is not opposed to working with hitters as well. Her strength is in building foundations and developing newer athletes.

KAITLYN HOLMAN

Kaitlyn played volleyball from the age of 10-17. She started as a middle blocker and then transitioned to a 6 rotation outside hitter. In 2015, she was a state runner-up in class 7A volleyball. She came on our staff in 2024 and coached the 15 Regional Black team.

DARCY ALFORD

Darcy had been playing club volleyball for 6 years and has played at LAV for 1 year. She has been on her varsity team for 4 years and is committed to play in college at Wallace State. She has been a setter and hitter for 5 years and started playing DS/Libero last year.

DEVYN LOVETT

Devyn played college ball at the University of Mobile. She has been coaching volleyball for the last 6 years. Devyn started coaching at Davidson High School and now is in her second year of coaching at McGill-Toolen High School. This will be Devyn's third year at LAV!

MEGAN FOY

Megan Foy is in her first year coaching with LAV. She is married and have three children, and teaches English at Robertsdale High School. She has coached middle school volleyball for four years and high school volleyball for three years, two of those years as varsity head coach at BC Rain High School and Robertsdale High School. She retired from coaching school ball in 2020 and began coaching club ball and grassroots the same year. She coached for two years at Baldwin County Volleyball Club and two years at Eastern Shore Volleyball Club. Megan is excited to be a part of the LAV family this year as the 13 Regional White coach..

PARKER GOFF

Parker has been playing club volleyball for 7 years and has played at LAV for 3 years. She has played on her varsity team for 4 years and is committed to play at Union University. She has played all positions over her 7 years of play, but now a outside hitter. This is her first years coaching at LAV as a Master Coach in the Local gym!!

Sam has been coaching volleyball for the last 2 years. She has experience coaching ages 6 to 14 years old. She was an all around outside throughout her high school, club and college career. Sam also played beach her entire athletic career as well.

Alice Wood

Alice has been playing volleyball for 7 years with LAV. She has won 2 state championships 2023 and 2024 at McT, and medaled at GJNC in 2024. She has training as a setter and is excited to work with young LAV setters.
